Ed Lefkowicz—he's one of the the two Ls—was the publisher of four books, seeing them from concept and design through editing, production, marketing, and distribution. He was also a consultant for a reprint publisher, advising them on potential titles to reprint.
In his professional life he has written articles and academic papers, contributed to a scholarly encyclopedia, and researched and written marketing copy during a decades-long career in selling and evaluating rare books and manuscripts.
After a shaky start in writing—ask him about his first college English paper—he wound up majoring in English lit through grad school, and taught English and writing at the university level. He currently writes a Substack newsletter. His best are those which Cynthia edits.
Ed is also a commercial photographer who works extensively with nonprofits.
Cynthia Lefkowicz—she's the other L—has spent much of her working life as an academic, writing papers, delivering some as talks, teaching university level courses and helping students write clear, well-organized papers and exams. She has contributed to catalog entries for museums including for the National Gallery of Art as well as entries to a scholarly encyclopedia.
Because her education required outside funding, she learned how to compose successful applications for scholarships, grants, fellowships, and financial aid from secondary school through graduate study, including funding for long term research abroad. This experience led to a position as a grant specialist for the National Endowment for the Arts, where she reviewed grant applications and advised potential grantees on how to create well-crafted and successful applications.
She has also been trained in a coaching technique called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) that can help relieve writer’s block as well as address other ways writers sometimes feel frustrated, anxious, or stuck.
Through our experiences we each came to appreciate and treasure the guidance of good editors from first idea to finished work. We’d love to do the same for you by helping you to make your writing clear, convincing, and publishable.
What about AI?
We don’t use AI for evaluation, analysis, or rewriting, and we won’t submit your manuscript to any AI for any reason. Your work is written by you, a human; it will be edited by us, also humans.
